Elf Jr. takes place in New York City at Christmas time. Almost EVERYONE will be wearing a coat at some point! We'd love it if you can start thinking about what you have and what you can borrow.
The following characters do not need a coat: Santa, Buddy, Mr. Greenway, policeman
Elves: ski coats, beanies, gloves, scarves in bright colors (RED, YELLOW, ORANGE, GREEN, BLUE) Not everyone needs every item. Please no purple or pink. (you are carolers)
Greenway Press and Dancers: dressier coats, if possible more neutral tones. No hats. It would be great to have longer coats for some of you if you have one! (remember, you are adults)
souvlaki seller, flyer boy, teenager, Emma Van Brocklin, passerby: be creative with outerwear. What would New Yorkers wear?
Additionally: Elves will be changing from elf costumes into street clothes (school clothes under their coats). They will need undershirts under their costumes because they will be changing as a group (of course boys and girls separately).
Dancers will wear black flats or jazz shoes.
Walter, Buddy, Mr. Greenway, and Chadwick will be wearing suits, dress shirts (preferably not white), ties, dark socks, and dark shoes
Sarah will wear a purple dress with dress shoes.
Deb, Sam, and Matthews will wear professional office clothing with dress shoes. It can be a mix of blazer, skirt, slacks, blouse, conservative dress, etc
Charlotte Dennon will wear dress pants with a fancy coat (looking for a fur lined hood) you are a TV personality!
You will be receiving more information from the costume committee and we will help with costuming, but start thinking about what you have, or what you can borrow from a friend of family member that will work with the show.
